Every once and a while, the main menu just doesn't interest me, and I'm sure you feel the same. So today, let's explore the infamous refrigerator strategically placed outside of the long line: The deli/salad section.
First, I must comment that the choices available were quite shocking: Tuna or Turkey. yea~. No, really, I bet you some children in Iowa only get corn for lunch, so I'm not complaining.
Anyway, first the sandwich: Turkey and Cheese (Cheddar). The bread is actually a new addition to this classic sandwich. It's reminiscent of a burger bun, but taste more like a sub's bread. I was delighted to find that it was soft and fluffy! There's no hard moldy bread in our fridge, ladies! (Although perhaps that had something to do with it being Monday? I'll look further into it.) The sesame seeds on top were evenly sprinkled, and did not overpowering the actual taste of the bread.
The serving of turkey was quite generous, as I'm sure you can see from the picture. It was quite plain though: no seasoning, cool temperature, not too chewy, not too wet, not too salty, no need to fret... but nonetheless freshness is key in a good deli sandwich, and this sandwich was most definitely fresh.
The cheese also followed the fresh trend, and I appreciated that it was not frozen solid, but rather soft and pliant. It had a nice taste and went down easy.
The chocolate milk though, is what brought the dish down. Perhaps it's just me, but I prefer my milk to be slightly cool, rather than freezing cold. This milk definitely felt more like frozen smoothie than smooth creamy milk. Perhaps if I had the time to let it sit in the room temperature air for a bit, it would've been better, but straight from the fridge made it completely un-enjoyable.
