TUITION ASSISTANCE:
Hope for the Future provides need-based tuition assistance for Catholic and non-Catholic students who meet eligibility requirements and enroll in one of the elementary or secondary Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Hope for the Future recognizes that poverty has no boundaries and will work with families seeking assistance. The money is paid directly to the school on behalf of the student, half of the award each semester.

The Hope for the Future application for the 2010-2011 school year is now available online at this website: http://www.hopeforfuture.org/application.html   The application deadline is: April 7, 2010. Applications will only be accepted through the online website.  Applications that are mailed will not be reviewed.

A selection committee will review and process the applications for approval. Once a family is approved, the family will be notified by the selection committee and mailed a tuition assistance voucher to present to the school of their choice at the time of registration.

RAISING GREEN FOR SHAMROCKS at the SALSA & SCHOLARSHIPS FUNDRAISER:
All are invited to IWHS's first annual Salsa & Scholarships Fundraiser, March 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at La Hacienda de Los Barrios. Incarnate Word High School has teamed up with the Viola’s Huge Heart Foundation to raise money for scholarships for IWHS students. After the passing of Mrs. Viola Barrios, the family established Viola’s Huge Heart Foundation in their mother’s memory. In May, 2009, Viola’s Huge Heart awarded a full scholarship to Abigail Issarraras, a freshman at IWHS, who would have otherwise not been able to attend. We have many families with stories much like Abigail’s; their daughter wants to attend IWHS but because of financial constraints, the family cannot afford the full tuition. Whether it is job loss or reduction in work, illness, change in the family situation or other unforeseen circumstances, we want to give families the opportunity for their daughter to experience the wonderful blessings of a Shamrock education.

The Salsa & Scholarships Fundraiser will be an evening you will remember long after March 7th. Come out and celebrate with the IWHS community and enjoy good friends, great food, music, and other entertainment. There will be a silent auction with incredible items to bid on and a variety of vendors to satisfy your shopping needs. The menu features a fajita buffet with rice, beans, and all the trimmings and a choice of a Margarita or beer for $25 per person pre-sale or $35 at the door. Children 12 and under eat FREE! Please support this event! To purchase tickets or for more information contact the Office of Advancement 210-832-2143 or purchase online.

SWIM TEAM REGIONAL RECOGNITION:
On January 23, 2010, the Shamrock swim team competed in the TAPPS Regional Competition placing third. Several swimmers will be competing in the TAPPS State Competition, February 5-6 in Conroe, TX. Caitlin O'Brian appears in MySA.com slideshow featuring swimmers from several teams. See team results.
Way to go Shamrocks!!!
