Standardized Testing

PSAT, SAT & Subject Tests, ACT, TSI and AP Dates and Information

PSAT/NMSQT Test Date

           October 11, 2017 (School Day Testing for grades 9-11)

                IWHS registers all eligible students and pays for the exam.  

                    Testing accommodations must be approved by College Board.  

                        Requests should be submitted 7-8 weeks prior to the testing date.

                    Requests should be submitted 7-8 weeks prior to desired testing date.

Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment

Seniors who will attend a public institution of higher learning in Texas or major in education in Texas are required to demonstrate mastery of basic skills before entering by taking a TSI placement test or qualifying for an exemption. (see below)


SAT (administered prior to March 2016):

  • A minimum combined critical reading and mathematics score of 1070 with a minimum score of 500 on the mathematics test for a TSI exemption in math
  • A minimum combined critical reading and mathematics score of 1070 with a minimum score of 500 on the critical reading test for a TSI exemption in both reading and writing

SAT (administered on or after March 5, 2016):

  • A minimum score of 530 on the Mathematics test for a TSI exemption in math (no combined score required)
  • A minimum score of 480 on the Evidenced-Based Reading & Writing (EBRW) for a TSI exemption in both reading and writing (no combined score required)

ACT
A student must first achieve a minimum composite score of 23 with:

  • At least 19 on math for an exemption in math
    and/or
  • At least 19 on English for an exemption in reading and writing

            Please consult with your college of choice for preferred location of test or completion dates required. Fees may apply.  

AP Tests
Colleges and universities throughout the world may offer credit and/or placement for qualifying Advanced Placement exam scores. Information about AP credit and placement policies at many colleges and universities is available on the College Board's web site.

2017 AP Exam Scores are scheduled for release for Texas based students on Saturday, July 8, 2017 @ 7am CST.
