|Incarnate Word High School provides several avenues for communication between students and faculty. By using Blackboard, the IWHS faculty are able to extend their teaching beyond the classroom and offer students continuous accessibility. Students can connect to Blackboard on any computer or media device, using the Internet or the Blackboard mobile app, anywhere and anytime in order to stay informed and involved.
Using Renweb or Blackboard, teachers may post course information, assignments, classroom documents, and announcements. For some assignments, students can safely submit files for grading. The instructor can view the file, score, and post comments for the student. Teachers may also provide additional resources, such as Powerpoint presentations, video, audio, animation, and other applications created outside of Blackboard. Another feature of Blackboard is Discussions, where students and teachers create discussion threads and reply to ones already created.
The faculty regularly receives in-service training on new Blackboard features and has access to training workshops and tutorials provided by the University of the Incarnate Word.
When the Incarnate Word student graduates, she is equipped with an additional skill-set: familiarity with the Blackboard Learning platform, which is used in many universities and colleges, and the ability to adapt to similar learning platforms.
