Scholarships & Endowment Funds
A gift to Incarnate Word High School’s Scholarship Fund helps provide an affordable opportunity for families that desire a Catholic education for their daughter(s) but lack the financial means to pay the full tuition. Gifts to the Scholarship Fund are tax-deductible where tuition is not. Therefore, a donation to help families in need can benefit donors in many ways.
You may donate to the IWHS Scholarship Fund, a specific scholarship fund (see below) or establish one of your own. Scholarships may be named to memorialize a deceased special person in your life, or to honor a living family member, classmate, friend, teacher or organization.
These are the established Scholarship Funds for Incarnate Word High School.
Angel (Gabriel) Scholarship Fund
The Angel (Gabriel) Scholarship Fund was established to help Shamrock Families with a sudden, unexpected financial need that puts them in an immediate state of financial emergency (i.e. death in the family, loss of a job). This fund was created to ensure that life’s unexpected challenges do not necessarily hinder a Shamrock’s ability to graduate or complete her current year.
Celine Cozad Scholarship Fund
Established in 2004 through the generosity of Celine Cozad for financially deserving students at IWHS.
Colonel Roger J. Labat Scholarship Endowment Fund
Established in 2010 through the efforts of Ms. Mary Ann de la Garza, the Madrigals (alumnae and students) and former IWHS principal Col. Roger J. Labat. This scholarship is designated for students in the IWHS choral program, and/or relatives of IWHS alumna.
Mary Ann de la Garza Scholarship Endowment Fund
Established in 2011 through the efforts and talents of Mary Ann de la Garza, her family and the Madrigals and Alumnae Madrigals. This scholarship is designated for students who are relatives of an IWHS alumna.
Barbara Stern Award for Excellence in Mathematics
The Barbara Stern Award for Excellence in Mathematics was originally created by Dr. Mark Raizen and Mrs. Alicia Pais Raizen '80 to honor Mrs. Barbara Stern, a math faculty member for 29 years, who by example motivated her students to have a passionate interest in learning math. Mathematics has always been an integral part of the discovery process in both science and technology. A strong mathematics curriculum at IWHS has continually produced students who have successful careers in science, engineering, and technology. This scholarship was first awarded to members of the class of 2013 and continues today. At this time IWHS is actively raising funds to endow this scholarship.
Mary Ninfa Ozuna '79 Scholarship Fund
Endowed in 2014, this scholarship fund was established in memory of a cherished Alumna, who also served a member of our Administration and a parent. In honor of Ninfa, this scholarship is designed to assist all those with the heart of a Shamrock.
Graduating Senior Scholarship Fund
Endowed in 2015 this scholarship fund is designed to help Senior, who may have it a serious financial challenge, finish their Senior Year and graduate a Shamrock!
Mary Jane Ihle Clark Scholarship Endowment
Mary Jane Ihle Clark blessed Incarnate Word with a large donation to establish this Scholarship Fund in her name. This woman of faith dedicated her life to supporting those in need. While the better part of her life was dedicated to advocacy for those with special needs, her Catholic Faith inspired her throughout the years, and as such she gifted IWHS in support of Catholic education. The funds are awarded by the IWHS Scholarship Committee.
Catholic Community Foundation Incarnate Word High School Endowment Fund
The CCF Incarnate Word High School Endowment Fund was established by generous donors to provide scholarships to attend Incarnate Word High School.
