Dear Future Shamrock
Thank you for considering Incarnate Word High School! With the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, IWHS has served as a home of learning and spiritual growth for generations of young women from every walk of life. At IWHS, it is our goal to create an atmosphere where knowledge is best experienced through self-discovery and self-directed learning.
As a ministry of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (CCVIs), IWHS strives to spread the educational vision of the Sisters to all. Attending IWHS is much more than an opportunity to obtain your high school diploma. IWHS, as an extension of the CCVI ministries, invites young women to become women who are led by faith to live into their potential. When you join the Shamrock Sisterhood, you are joining a group of women who have been grounded in and reflect a passion for service leadership, compassion, equity, and justice since 1881. The young women who attend IWVHS are also part of this vibrant legacy.
To be a woman of the Incarnate Word means to be a woman who is led by faith. Although the Sisters of Charity started their service in San Antonio, the mission extends far beyond our city, through the actions and pursuits of alumnae across the globe. Encouraged by the faculty, staff, parents, families and their time at IWHS to reach their academic and individual potential, graduates enter the world demonstrating service leadership and fostering compassion, equity, and justice.
